I'm Kelli Buschmann. I write books for children because I belive books are magic. ✨ They connect us to ourselves, and they connect us to others.

When I was a kid, I became the books I was reading. I know I was an honorary member of The Baby-Sitters Club. I even made Kid Kits to take along to my babysitting jobs.

When I was an elementary school teacher, I watched my students do the same thing. They would ask for just one more page during read-aloud time and then later at recess act out scenes from the Junie B. Jones book we were reading. I loved that!

When I became a mom, I looked forward to bedtime stories with my boys every day. One night we cuddled up together with The Day the Crayons Quit, and one of them got the giggles. Then the other. Then me. When our uncontrollable laughter stopped, I remember thinking -- that was the absolute best feeling! That's when I knew I wanted to write books for kids.

I live in southern Illinois with my favorite people -- my husband, our two sons, and our sweet, old dog, Charlie. He supervises all my writing sessions. I'm a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and meet regularly with my wonderful critique group.

When I'm not writing, you'll find me cheering on my kids, practicing yoga, or walking in the park.
